Turkey with Fruit Sauce for  Christmas

This delicious recipe is a combination of mixed flavours that will surely delight your taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 lb (1.5kg) turkey thighs boned and skinned
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • cup dried apricot cut into pieces
  • cup pitted prunes cut into pieces
  • teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
  • cup orange juice
  • teaspoon salt
  • cup dry red wine or orange juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper

Steps:

  • In a large skillet with olive oil, cook the turkey thighs until brown.
  • Transfer the browned turkey into the slow cooker.
  • Add the fruits.
  • Mix the wine, orange juice, thyme, garlic, honey, marjoram, pepper and salt in a small bowl.
  • Pour the mixture over turkey with fruit.
  • Cover and cook for 6 to 8 hours on low heat.
  • To thicken the sauce, combine cold water and cornstarch in a bowl.
  • Stir into the slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook for another 10 - 15 minutes over high heat.
  • Serve with rice or noodles.
