  • 28oz (800g) can of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion chopped finely
  • 1 cup chopped baby carrots
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 6 oz (180g) can of tomato paste
  • 1 lb (500g) lean ground beef
  • cup whole milk
  • teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • teaspoon salt
  • cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • teaspoon ground black pepper


  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the carrots, garlic and onion. Cook and stir for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef into the skillet.
  • Cook and stir.
  • Remove the excess fat from the skillet.
  • Add 1 cup of milk then reduce the heat to low and bring to simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Transfer the beef mixture into the slow cooker.
  • Bring the heat to high.
  • Add the tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, pepper, oregano, basil, salt and red pepper flakes.
  • Cook for 2 hours over high.
  • Pour in cup of milk and grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Stir and cook for another 2 hours over high.
