Prepare a delightful dinner for your guests, they will be surprise how you do it.


  • 100 ml (3.3 fl oz) red wine
  • 4 lamb shanks
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 celery diced
  • 2 mushrooms sliced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 carrot sliced
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 hot water
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour


  • Dissolve the beef stock cube in 150 ml (5 fl oz) of hot water. Set aside.
  • Brown the lambs in a frying pan with olive oil.
  • Place the bay leaf and all the vegetables at the bottom of slow cooker.
  • Pour in the wine and tomato puree.
  • Add the stock and combine.
  • Cover and cook for 8 hours on low.
  • Take the lamb shanks off the slow cooker.
  • Transfer into a serving dish and place in warm oven.
  • Transfer the liquid from the slow cooker into a small pan.
  • Add the cornflour and stir.
  • Stir thoroughly until sauce thickens.
  • Serve the lamb shanks with sauce on top.
