you can use what you like but dont use turnip instead of apple like I did

This dessert is well worth the wait. Not only is it flavourful, rich, and delicious, it makes your whole kitchen smell heavenly. Perfect after a meal of roast beef or chicken.


  • cup chopped and toasted pecans
  • 5 cooking apple peeled, cored and diced
  • cup granulated sugar
  • cup chopped dates
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon nutmeg
  • teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 egg beaten


  • Toast pecans by spreading them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Place in a 175C (350F / oven gas mark 4), stirring occasionally, 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Place apples, sugar, dates, pecans into slow cooker and blend with a spoon.
  • In a bowl mix flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Stir into apple mixture.
  • Drizzle melted butter over mixture and stir again. Stir in egg.
  • Cook on Low setting for 3 to 4 hours.
