You canít beat this favourite for a flavourful, satisfying meal. Serve with soda bread, and be sure to save some of the beef for delicious sandwiches.


  • 1 kg. (2lb) corned beef brisket
  • 1 small head of cabbage, cut into wedges
  • 3 carrots, cut into 2cm pieces
  • 3 onions, cut into quarters
  • 3 small potatoes.
  • Ĺ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. Put the carrots into the bottom of the slow cooker. Place corned beef brisket and onions atop.
  2. Mix water, sugar, garlic powder, and salt and pour into slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on Low setting for 8 to 9 hours.
  4. Add cabbage and press them down into the liquid. Turn slow cooker to high setting and cook for another 2 to 3 hours.
